At GoTu, we've built a platform that fosters safe collaboration between offices and dental professionals. In New Jersey, we're excited to introduce a new enhancement to our offerings: the option to choose how you'd like to work with GoTu professionals.
Key Takeaways
1. Choose Your Worker Type: Offices can select between independent contractors or employees for GoTu shifts.
2. Simplified Onboarding: Our PEO manages all onboarding and payments for employee shifts—no office paperwork required.
3. New Employee Fee: A 20% fee (in addition to the 22.5% booking fee) covers employment costs for those choosing the employee type.
4. Terms Update Required: Agree to updated terms in-app or via web portal to start posting shifts with the employee option.
5. Shift Management: Scheduled shifts will continue as planned or if canceled, will not be reposted. Any unfilled shifts will be removed, and new shifts will be filled according to your selected worker type.
Employee Option Launch Frequently Asked Questions
How Are The Dental Professionals Paid?
GoTu handles all payments to dental professionals. Once a shift is completed, the professional will be paid through the GoTu platform. Please refrain from paying any professional directly, as all payments must go through GoTu to ensure proper documentation and compliance. If a professional requests direct payment, please contact GoTu customer service immediately for assistance.
What Happens If There's An Accident or Injury?
When onboarding with GoTu, 1099 professionals opt into occupational insurance coverage to protect against injuries while at a client’s location. If an incident occurs, both professionals and offices are encouraged to contact GoTu’s customer success team right away so we can assist with the appropriate insurance coverage.
GoTu provides all W2 professionals with workers' compensation coverage. In the event of an injury, professionals should notify GoTu immediately so we can promptly report the claim and ensure coverage.
What If The Dental Office Needs To Cancel?
If a shift is canceled 7+ days (168+ hours) before a shift, the GoTu Booking Fee, Professional Pay, and Employee Fee charged upon confirmation will be refunded.
If a shift is canceled 5-7 days (96-168 hours) before a shift, the GoTu Booking Fee charged upon confirmation will not be refunded. However, 100% of the Professional Pay and Employee Fee will be refunded.
If a shift is canceled 2-4 days (24-96 hours) before a shift, the GoTu Booking Fee and Employee Fee charged upon confirmation will not be refunded. However, 75% of the Professional Pay will be refunded. The professional will be paid 25% of the total day pay.
If a shift is canceled 0-1 day (0-24 hours) before a shift, the GoTu Booking Fee, Professional Pay, and Employee Fee charged upon confirmation will not be refunded. The professional will be paid 100% of the total day pay.
If the dental office sends the professional home early through no fault of their own, they are still entitled to the originally scheduled hours pay. The professional will be paid 100% of the total day pay.
While GoTu makes every effort to provide pay to the dental professional in the event of a dental office cancellation, GoTu reserves the right to waive this payment if the cancellation is determined to be the result of a catastrophic event or force of nature.
If an office cancels a shift within the 20 minutes grace period from the time of confirmation they will be refunded in full
What’s Changing?
While this change adds new flexibility, your overall experience on the platform will stay largely the same. Here are the key differences if you select an employee model:
Employment with PEO Support: Dental professionals classified as employees will be managed by our PEO, which means onboarding and payments are handled seamlessly—no paperwork for your office.
Employee Fee: A new fee of 20% of the professional's pay will be added to cover employment costs. This fee is separate from our standard 22.5% service fee for both employee and contractor options.
Payment & Support: All disputes will be resolved on the Monday following the workweek. Our customer service team will manage any necessary adjustments to ensure smooth payment.
What Does My Office Need to Do?
Choose your preferred worker type for your office and agree to our updated Terms of Service & Personnel Service Agreement (required if you select the employee option). Once done, you’ll be ready to start posting new shifts.
What About Existing Shifts?
Open Shifts: Shifts without confirmed professionals will be removed. Once a worker type is selected, you will need to repost these shifts if coverage is needed.
Scheduled Shifts: Any shifts that are already scheduled will be completed as originally posted or canceled without being reposted.
New shifts: After selecting a worker type, any new shifts posted will be filled with your selected worker type.
